The office of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has elected not to move forward with weapons charges pressed against Devin Haney. In an email to ESPN, the office of the district attorney said they did not have evidence to move forward with the case.
“The case involving Devin Haney was declined on July 27 due to insufficient evidence,” the emailed statement reads.

Nearly one month ago, Haney was reportedly arrested and booked on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. The boxer was taken into custody and released on a $35,000 bond shortly thereafter.
“It’s a misunderstanding that will be solved when Devin goes to court,” Haney’s father and trainer, Bill, said.
“It’s unfortunate that he was arrested with his armed licensed security, and I’m confident things are going to be worked out.”
With Haney’s legal issues behind him, he will move forward with his career. The 24-year-old fighter is set to challenge Regis Prograis for the WBC Super Lightweight Championship on October 28, 2023. The venue is yet to be determined, but many expected the fight to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
