Just a few short weeks ago, Sylvester Stallone spoke with Variety about possible ideas for the sequel and now Variety has new info on the film. With Sylvester Stallone winning a Golden Globe for the film, MGM is currently eyeing a Thanksgiving 2017 release for the film. With a Thanksgiving 2017 release, it would allow director Ryan Coogler to stay on-board for the film, before going off to film Marvel’s Black Panther.
MGM CEO Gary Barber told Variety “that’s my plan”, in reference to the November 2017 release date. Stallone also addressed the concerning issue of Coogler’s possible, saying if he can’t direct the film, he’ll be brought on as a producer.
Hopefully everything pans out for the best as Creed was a box office smash.
