The Colts are attempting to clear some cap space. ESPN’s Field Yates has reported Trent Cole has agreed to take a pay cut in order to stay with the Colts.
Another veteran pay cut as we approach the new league year: Colts DE Trent Cole. Per source, he reduced his base salary from $4.25M to $2M.

After giving tight end Dwyane Allen a big extension it appears to Colts got some much needed cap relief. The Colts were a team that didn’t have a lot of cap space to begin with. Cole signed a two year, $14 million deal last offseason.
In 2015 Trent Cole disappointed only recording 3 sacks on the season. Part of the reason is he is a much better fit in a 4-3 compared to Indy’s 3-4. It is unclear what he might have gotten on the open market after a down season.
