Coldplay has unexpectedly found itself at the center of a viral news story.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Coldplay performed in Foxborough, Massachusetts, at Gillette Stadium. During the band’s headlining set, large screens broadcast video of fans enjoying the concert. At one point, the camera panned to a man who had his arms wrapped around a woman standing in front of him. When the two noticed themselves on the large screen, the man ducked out of the frame, and the woman appeared to cover her face.
“Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy,” Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin said.
Further reporting indicated the man in question was Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, and the woman in question was Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer. Both are reportedly married, but not to each other. Video of the incident went viral across multiple social media platforms, and Byron resigned as CEO.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” a statement from Astronomer said.
While Astronomer works through various internal and external challenges, Coldplay continues to tour. Furthermore, the band has seen its streams rise in recent days. According to a report from Luminate by way of Billboard, the band saw its streams jump from 28.7 million streams to 35.7 million in the five days after the incident, an increase of 25%.
Coldplay will continue its tour on July 26-27, 2025, as they spend two nights in the land of least infidelity — Miami, Florida.
