Recently, Doc Rivers spoke to Glen Davis about a potential return to the Los Angeles Clippers. Davis is not only wanted by the Clippers, but also the Dallas Mavericks. Davis has said that if he is not signed by an NBA team, he will play overseas next season, but if recent reports are right, it looks like Davis will be playing stateside for either the Clippers or Mavericks.
Following from Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.
Clippers remain interested in Glen Davis returning. Doc Rivers spoke with Baby’s reps earlier this week. No deal yet, however. Per source.

Big Baby also has gotten a call from the Dallas Mavericks. China and Europe are also possibilities. Source.

Do the Clippers necessarily need Big Baby back on the team? They have gotten a lot of big men this offseason, including the re-signing of DeAndre Jordan. Right now they have Blake Griffin and Jordan to start, and their backups would be Josh Smith, Branden Dawson and Cole Aldrich. The Clippers can also move Paul Pierce down to the 4 and Blake Griffin to the 5 if they want to go small. Doc Rivers already has a lot of options to play in the post, so I do not know if Glen will end up back in L.A.
The Mavericks have a few big men on the team as well, but they are not as good down low as the Clippers. They have Dirk Nowitzki and Samuel Dalembert to start, but after that they are not as good. They have Zaza Pachulia, Charlie Villanueva, Javale McGee, and Dwight Powell off the bench, along with new signees Jarrid Famous and Satnam Singh so adding ‘Big Baby’ might create a big log jam for minutes in the Mavs frontcourt.
I could see the Mavericks signing Big Baby more than I see the Clippers re-signing him, but you never really know. The Clippers obviously like Davis, but I do not think he will see much time on the court in either situation. If he signs with the Mavericks though, he has more of an opportunity to play meaningful minutes. It will be interesting to see where Glen Davis signs in the next few weeks, or if he goes to play across the pond.
