The Clippers shocked the world by trading Chris Paul, who informed the team he wouldn’t re-sign in free agency, to the Houston Rockets this week. A team that now could be gearing up for the future, the Clippers may see Mbah a Moute look to sign elsewhere if he hopes to play for a playoff contending team.
Mbah a Moute provided solid defense on the perimeter and was often times asked to guard the opposing team’s best player this season with the Clippers. Starting in 76 out of the 80 games he played, Mbah a Moute held per-game averages of 6.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 22.3 minutes.
Along with the Clippers, he’s made stops with Milwaukee, Sacramento, Minnesota and Philadelphia throughout his NBA career. He signed a free-agent contract to join the team in the fall of 2015.
The 2017-18 option declined by Mbah a Moute was worth $2.3 million. He’ll have competition on the free-agent market, with other available small forwards including Sacramento’s Rudy Gay, Golden State’s Andre Iguodala and Washington’s Otto Porter.
