Clippers’ Collison, Davis, Granger To Opt Out
The Los Angeles Clippers will see guard Darren Collison and forwards Danny Granger and Glen Davis opt out of the final years of their contracts to become free agents this summer. Collison was due $1.9 million next year, while Granger and Davis were set to make around $1.4 million.
Each player is said to be testing the free agent market for deals longer than one season, but they prefer to stay with the Clippers. Collison proved to be a reliable back-up point guard for Chris Paul, particularly when Paul was sidelined for 18 games, in which Collison started in his place to average 13.3 points and 6.5 assists and help the Clippers go 12-6 in Paul’s absence. He also came up big in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he scored 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.
Davis and Granger both joined the deadline after the trade deadline in February. Davis played in 23 regular season games while Granger played just 12 regular season games with the Clippers.
