The Cincinnati Bengals are riding a high wave of positive emotion after beating the Kansas City Cheifs in the 2022 AFC Championship. Today the team got news regarding the injury to Bengals’ tight end CJ Uzomah. An MRI revealed that the injury he suffered in the AFC Championship game was an MCL sprain. Head Coach Zac Taylor called the news encouraging and did not rule out the tight end for Super Bowl LVI on February 13th.
The initial belief is Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah has an MCL sprain, source said. Obviously out today and he’ll have an MRI after the game to see if there is additional or more extensive damage.

CJ Uzomah is an important option for quarterback Joe Burrow and the offense in tight spots and the team would be better off with him playing in Super Bowl LVI. In the regular season, the Bengals’ tight end caught 49 passes for 493 yards and five touchdowns. He was the clear-cut fourth option for the team. In the playoffs this year he has caught 13 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown. That makes him the third option so far in the postseason for the Bengals.

CJ Uzomh will likely do everything in his power to play in the NFL’s biggest game. He has two weeks to rehab and get healthy enough to play. We here at Def Pen Sports hope to see the tight end healthy and playing in Super Bowl LVI. We will update his status when it is known.
