George is under contract with the Indiana Pacers for another season, but the consensus around the league seems to be that he’s not long for Indiana. If the Pacers don’t believe that he’ll re-up with them in 2018-19, they could be motivated to trade George for assets and begin a full rebuild. They already have one great young piece in Myles Turner.
George, who is reportedly intent on joining the Los Angeles Lakers, is one of the best 10 or 15 players in basketball. Accordingly, many (most) teams will be interested in acquiring his services. So, McCollum isn’t exactly breaking new ground with this item on his wish list.
George, an elite two-way star, would help Portland in a major way, particularly on the defensive end. The Blazers will have to get in line, though.
