Miami Heat big man Chris Bosh’s season might be over after he was checked into a Miami area hospital on Thursday because of chest pains. According to media reports from various different outlets, doctors believe that Bosh may have blood clots on his lungs.
Blood clots are a very serious and scary topic in the NBA as of late, as former Trail Blazer star Jerome Kersey died earlier this week from a blood clot in his lung, and Nets forward Mirza Teletovic is out for the year because of blood clots.
Heat coach Erik Spolestra said Bosh will see a couple more specialists today and that there maybe more information available either tonight or tomorrow.
“It’s too early for an ultimate diagnosis,” Spoelstra said, though he said he is confident the condition is not life-threatening. “I know there is a lot of speculation, a lot of rumors right now.”
Former teammate Lebron James says that he’s praying for Bosh.
“I texted Chris last night and, obviously, he probably doesn’t have his phone so I’m just waiting to hear back from him,” he said. “I’m praying. My prayers (are) up. My hands (are) open and I’m wishing him the best. My fingers (are) crossed, for sure. Basketball is a small thing when it comes to health and people’s family. He’s so connected to me that I feel it, for sure. So every minute I’m checking to see if he’s OK.”
Bosh is back in Miami while the Heat are in New York tonight to take on the Knicks, both teams first game following the All Star Break.
Bosh is averaging 21 points and seven rebounds a game this season.
