The Kansas City Chiefs have put together a productive offseason thus far, re-signing a number of their key free agents including wide receivers Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson. Now with most of their roster from this past year’s Super Bowl run still intact, Kansas City will also reportedly bring back starting cornerback Bashaud Breeland. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Breeland will return to the Chiefs on a one-year deal worth $4.5 million.
Veteran cornerback Bashaud Breeland, who had an interception in the Super Bowl, is returning to the Chiefs on a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million, according to a source. Breeland played in every game for the Super Bowl champs last season.

Even though Bashaud Breeland may not be as big of a name as some of Kansas City’s other pieces, he was an important part of their run last season. Breeland along with cornerbacks Charvarius Ward and Kendall Fuller made for a nice starting trio in the secondary.
After being their downfall in the 2018 campaign which ended with a Conference Finals loss to New England, the Chiefs’ defense stepped up in crucial games this season. Breeland along with Tyrann Mathieu helped make a huge difference in their first season with the club.
The Chiefs were able to not only retain most of their offensive free agents, but they also managed to keep Chris Jones and now Breeland around for at least one more season.
With almost all of their entire starting lineup from last season returning for 2020-21, the Chiefs are in prime position to make a deep run in the playoffs for the third straight year.
