Power 105.1’s Charlamagne Tha God is back at it again. In addition to being a radio host, podcast host, television personality and self-proclaimed “Prince of Pissing People Off”, Charlamagne is an author. This morning, the radio personality’s book publisher, Touchstone Books, took to Twitter to announce the title and projected release date of his new book. The book is titled, Shook One, and is expected to be released this fall. Shook One goes in depth about The Brilliant Idiots host’s battle with anxiety throughout his childhood, teenage years and adult life. In an official release, Touchstone Books writes, “Shook One details how anxiety has been a driving force in Charlamagne’s life since childhood. For many years, he stressed over what he thought were personal shortcomings: fear of being unpopular in school, potential rejection by women, of being ugly and worst of all, falling into the life of stagnation or crime that caught up so many of his friends and family in his hometown of Moncks Corner, South Carolina.”

Shook One comes roughly two years after Charlamagne released his first book, Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It. Black Privilege reached the New York Times Bestseller List and received rave reviews from a number of different celebrities and outlet. Steve Harvey noted, “After meeting this young man I was impressed by his real desire to be relevant and his genuine yearning to leave meaningful footprints in the sand, this book is just that: a young man passing on relevant knowledge and experiences to help others better their position in life. Way to go young soldier, UNK is proud.” Kurutz added, “If the book has a theme, it is honesty — or as Principle 6 states, “Live Your Truth.” Charlamagne opens with an unflattering story about getting beat up as a teenager, criticizes his own looks and “egg-shaped dome,” and admits to being overwhelmed when he first did radio in the city.”
Charlamagne The God will look to duplicate the success of his first book with Shook One.
