Channel 4 is reportedly developing a documentary series about the life, career, and legacy of global pop star Taylor Swift. Led by Sandpaper Films, the proposed docuseries will consist of two parts, but has not yet received a release date from the broadcaster.
“Through interviews with high-profile commentators, industry insiders and fans, the documentary examines the forces that have shaped her trajectory and the devoted community she has inspired,” Channel 4 shared. “Rare archive will reveal fresh insights into Taylor and her story as the series charts her journey from ambitious teen with towering dreams to one of the most influential and scrutinised figures of our time.”
Susannah Price and Henry Singer of Sandpaper Films will step in as executive producers with Jessica Brady working as the lead producer and Guy King as director. King, a BAFTA-nominated filmmaker, producer and cinematographer, is best known for his contributions to Different League: The Derry City Story (2021), Our Falklands War: A Frontline Story (2022) and I Love Larne (2014).
“Taylor Swift is an unprecedentedly powerful 21st Century voice for women and young people,” King said. “Under the microscope of social media since the earliest days of MySpace and Tumblr, she came of age during a new feminist wave. With her fame came controversy, which she so skillfully wrestled to the floor. We’re excited to tell her story.”
Swift is no stranger to the big screen. Her latest documentary, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, premiered worldwide in AMC and Cinemark theaters in 2023. She’s also appeared in original films like Amsterdam, The Giver, and Cats.
