Current Dallas Maverick and former Houston Rocket Chandler Parsons gave one of his former all-star teammates the MVP nod. Before the game against his old team Wednesday, ESPN reporters asked Parsons his thoughts on James Harden being the MVP for the 14-15 NBA season.
“For sure. He’s the best player in basketball right now, the things he’s doing are incredible. The scouting report is focused in on stopping him and you see he’s still getting 30 a game. It’s impressive.”
Besides their time in Houston, Parsons and Harden also spent ample time together this past summer on Team USA before final cuts were made. Harden went on to make the team while Parsons didn’t.
“It doesn’t really surprise me, I saw firsthand how talented he is. He works extremely hard. He’s playing better defense this year. He’s leading their team. He’s hitting tough shots. There’s not much he’s not doing.” said Parsons when asked about Hardens play this season.
With Harden leading the league and scoring and guiding his team to victories without a consistent Dwight Howard in lineup, it’s hard to argue against him. Sure Warriors guard Stephen Curry has a case but Harden is doing all this with less while posting career high numbers in almost every statistic. We still have about half the season to go but don’t be surprised if you see Harden holding that MVP trophy come April.
