The faltering Cleveland Cavaliers have finally hit an apex of disaster. After getting obliterated at home by the Houston Rockets, on national television no less, it is overwhelmingly evident that change is necessary. However, that change will not come in the form of a fired head coach. According to ESPN’s
Story filed to ESPN: Despite losing 12 of 18 games – including a 120-88 loss to Houston – Cleveland coach Ty Lue’s job is safe. “We are not firing our head coach,” one Cavaliers official told ESPN. Cavs will keep working to improve team prior to Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

The dysfunction with the Cavs runs rampant throughout the organization. In just the past year, the Cavaliers have had never-ending problems from the front office failing to hire a new general manager in a timely manner, to the reportedly volatile locker room discussion, to team owner Dan Gilbert reportedly making all basketball decisions. Wojnarowski says Cleveland will remain very active in trade talks ahead of next Thursday’s trade deadline. Whatever moves they plan to make, LeBron James does not plan to be involved in any talks.

Tyronn Lue took over for David Blatt two years ago in a surprise change. That team was 30-11 when Blatt was fired. This team is 30-21 and precariously positioned at third in the Eastern Conference, but only two games up on the seventh seed. Whether firing Tyronn Lue is the correct move or not, the heat level is rising exponentially with every game the Cavaliers play.
