Altman, 34, has been Cleveland’s assistant GM since September 2016, but has been with the team since 2012. Prior to his time with the Cavs, Altman served as assistant coach for Columbia University.
The Cavs parted ways with GM David Griffin in June. Chauncey Billups was considered to be the primary candidate for the job, but he withdrew from consideration.
