The odds-on favorites to win the 2015-16 NBA championship have been updated, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are ahead of the pack. The Cavaliers were picked by Vegas as the title favorites before the playoffs started in April, but of course lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Even so, the Cavs remained the odds-on title favorites throughout the offseason, and that is still the case as we’ve entered the preseason.
Via Bovada:
The Cavaliers hold the same odds as they did in July (11/4) and are the only Eastern Conference team featured in the top six. The Bulls and Heat appear after the Rockets (16/1) and are both at 20/1 odds. After being tied at 9/2 odds in July, the defending champion Warriors were jumped by the San Antonio Spurs, no doubt inspired by their major offseason acquisitions in LaMarcus Aldridge and David West. After the Spurs and Warriors are the Oklahoma City Thunder at 17/2 odds, who have a keen microscope on them this season with the return of Kevin Durant and a new head coach Billy Donovan.
The Hawks, Bucks, and Pelicans are notable teams in the middle of the pack, while the Knicks, 76ers, Kings, Magic, and Nuggets round out the lowest odds of winning the title in 2016.
