The exiled Carmelo Anthony, who sits in NBA purgatory with the Houston Rockets, may finally be seeing light at the end of his tunnel. Sam Amick of The Athletic says that Anthony has “options available” to him with more popping up ahead of the NBA’s February 7th trade deadline. Anthony has not played since November 8th against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Houston would lose that game by 18, with Anthony shooting 1-11 from the floor.
Amick says that multiple teams have inquired about Anthony and that there is a strong indication that he will play in the NBA again. Most recently, speculation rampantly spread that LeBron James and the Lakers showed interest in Anthony. The Lakers, however, would have to waive a player to bring Anthony on.
Houston is looking to waive a player in the wake of the anticipated acquisition of Kenneth Faried via the buyout market. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski says that the Rockets are looking at the trade market for Anthony to clear a spot for Faried. However it would be easier to simply waive James Nunnally, who is on a 10-day contract.
