
New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has seemed a bit down on himself. He’s tired of losing, and thinks that his loyalty has “come back to bite him in the ass.”
Today, Anthony’s good friend Chris Paul announced that he will not be participating in the 2016 Olympics. Despite Paul’s absence, Carmelo wants to be there. From Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News:
“From a morale standpoint as a player, if you’ve been through the things I’ve been through the past couple of years you want to feel what that success feels like. You want that success,” he said. “So the Olympics for me is great timing.”
Chris Paul announced Tuesday that he’s withdrawing from the Olympics this summer because his body requires rest. It threw cold water on Anthony’s dream of capturing a third gold medal with ‘Super Friends’ Paul and LeBron James, but it didn’t sap the 31-year-old’s enthusiasm for Brazil.
“That doesn’t affect my decision either way,” Anthony said.

“Mentally, I think it’s good for me to go out there and feel what (winning) feels like again,” he said.
Wow, Melo must be seriously fed up with New York. It sure seems like he’s complained about the Knicks’ losing ways a lot this year. It’s hard to feel too badly for Anthony, since he chose more money to stay in New York when he could have taken a pay cut to player for a better team, like Chicago. However, if it’s winning that he wants, then there is no better team to be on than team USA in the Olympics. USA tends to dominate
