Seattle Seahawks pass rusher Carlos Dunlap has signed a one-year deal worth up to eight million dollars with the Kansas City Chiefs after meeting with the team on Wednesday. The veteran pass rusher spent the majority of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals but spent the majority of the last two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Kansas City has lacked enough talented pass rushing in years past and looks to address that with the addition of Dunlap. The team still hopes to contend for a Super Bowl this season despite the improvements made by their division rivals.

Last season with the Seattle Seahawks, Carlos Dunlap played in all 17 games with two starts. In those games, he recorded seven passes defended, one forced fumble, 24 solo tackles, 35 combined tackles, and eight tackles for a loss. While the veteran pass rusher is no longer a starting caliber player he brings plenty of experience, leadership, and depth to the Kansas City Chiefs roster. Entering his 13th year in the NFL, Dunlap will hope to help the team contend for a Super Bowl this season.
Chris Jones on Carlos Dunlap: “I trained with him this summer in Miami. We’ll accept him with open arms. I always told him I would love to play with him.”

While he also met with the Carolina Panthers and considered a return to the Seattle Seahawks, ultimately the Cheifs were the right fit. A chance to contend for a championship and getting to play with his friend Chris Jones was too much to pass up on this season. This deal seems to work out well for both sides and could pay off big time in January during the 2022-23 NFL Playoffs.
