Brooklyn Nets guard Caris LeVert is set to miss extended time after recently injuring his right thumb. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, LeVert will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair damaged ligaments in the thumb.
Caris LeVert will miss four to six weeks, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, after the Brooklyn Nets guard underwent surgery Thursday to repair ligaments in his right thumb.
In announcing the procedure, the Nets did not provide a timeline for LeVert’s return, saying he was out indefinitely and that updates on his status “will be provided as appropriate.”
With Kevin Durant also expected to be sidelined for the season, LeVert had been stepping in as the primary sidekick to point guard Kyrie Irving. With a larger role in the offense, Caris LeVert was off to the best start of his career this season. The Michigan product is posting well-rounded averages of 16.8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in just under 32 minutes per game.
Now with LeVert and Durant both out, the Nets have an obvious need for someone to step up as another scoring option. Irving has been stellar to start the season but will need some assistance to keep the 4-7 Nets alive. Expect pieces such as Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris and Taurean Prince to get more opportunities on the offensive end as long as Harris remains out.
