Caris LeVert has been a rising star for the Brooklyn Nets this season with his most recent highlight coming off a game-winner against the Denver Nuggets last week. On Monday night, it seemed that the guards’ promising campaign had come to an end.
Levert suffered a horrific leg injury in the second quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The injury came after LeVert contested Timberwolves’ rookie Josh Okogie at the basket. Caris was taken off the court on a stretcher as players from both sides looked on in terror.

Fortunately for LeVert, the visual is a lot worse than the diagnosis. The Nets guard has been diagnosed with a dislocated right foot and no ligament damage. He won’t need surgery and he could make a return this season.
Team orthopedist Dr. Martin O'Malley: “Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage. While the optics of this injury may have appeared to be more severe, surgery will not be required."

O'Malley: "Caris will begin a period of rehabilitation with the Nets’ performance staff, following which he is expected to return to full strength and resume all basketball activities without any limitations this season.”

LeVert has been a shinning spot for decent 6-7 Brooklyn Nets team. LeVert was originally drafted 20th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2016 NBA draft but his rights were traded for Thaddeus Young. This season 6-7 wing was averaging 19 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for Brooklyn.
Players from across the NBA offered their condolences after witnessing the ugly injury.
