With the coronavirus pandemic and the nation in disarray, last week Cardi B took to social media to express her feelings on the outbreak. What started off as a 45-second video, has become the coronavirus anthem.
In the video, the Bodak Yellow artist shouts, “Coronavirus! Coronavirus! I’m telling you, sh*t is real! Sh*t is gettin’ real!”

Days later, a Brooklyn D.J. and producer named DJ iMarkkeyz used the video to create a remix. According to Billboard, the popular track was uploaded to iTunes and Apple Music and broke through at No. 96 on the platform’s Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart.
In addition, the song had reportedly jumped all the way to No. 5 — as well as No. 37 on iTunes overall.
The initial video going viral has caused a few other celebrities to get involved. DJ Snake has also created a remix, and Cody Simpson and Miley Cyrus have joined in on the fun as well.
Within these strange times, it’s important to have songs like these to provide some relief. Even Cardi B was perplexed with the song’s growth on the charts, she tweeted about possibly doing a music video.
