Cam Newton is no stranger to controversy in his brief NFL career so far. While his choice of pre and post game outfits or touchdown celebrations often grab the attention of social media, he’s also said some relatively idiotic comments in the past. And the former NFL MVP has put his foot in his mouth once again.
During a recent press conference following Panthers practice, Newton made a sexist remark after a reporter asked him about his receiver Devin Funchess running routes.
“I know you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well. Devin Funchess has seemed to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him kind of truck sticking people out there?”

The reporter in question, Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer, added some more information about Cam’s comments.
I don't think it's "funny" to be a female and talk about routes. I think it's my job.

I spoke with him after and it was worse. I chose not to share, because I have an actual job to do today and one he will not keep me from.
