Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer and Warriors coach Steve Kerr have been named coaches of the month for their respective conferences’.
Budeholzer led the Hawks to the best monthly record in NBA history, leading the squad to a 17-0 mark in January. Atlanta’s record is 31-2 going back to December and they currently own the best record in the entire league at 40-8.
The Hawks have won 19 games in a row and will be represented well at All-Star weekend in the Big Apple this weekend. Budeholzer will be leading the East squad with three of his players: Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague, and Al Horford. Kyle Korver, who many felt was snubbed for not making the All-Star team, will be representing the Hawks in the three-point shootout.
Kerr led the Warriors to the best record in the Western Conference for the month of January, finishing with a 12-3 record. Golden State led the NBA in scoring at 116.2 ppg, shooting just under 49% from the field, and led the league in point differential which was plus 14.
The Warriors went 10-1 at home this past month to improve on their league best 22-2 record at Oracle Arena. Golden State is 37-8 this season, their best start in franchise history.
Like Budenholzer, Kerr will be coaching the Western Conference All-Stars at All-Star weekend where he will have a pair of his players on the squad in guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The “Splash Brothers”, Like Kyle Korver, will also participate in the three-point shootout as well.
