Hue Jackson has been at the helm for the Cleveland Browns as their fifth head coach since 2010 and a lot of his tenure has been similar to those that came before him. A whole lot of losing. But Jackson’s losing reached epic levels in 2017 after Cleveland recorded a 0-16 season but Jackson was not let go after a winless season.
But now after starting the 2018 season 2-5-1, the Browns elected to move on from Jackson in his third season with the team.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the firing of Jackson on Monday.

Hue Jackson had this and next year remaining on his contract. So the Browns will be contractually obligated to him through 2019 season. But Cleveland is now back in the HC market.

Jackson finishes his time in Cleveland with a 3-36-1 record in his time with the team. This was his second head coaching job after his lone season with the Oakland Raiders in 2011.
For the Browns, their record isn’t horrible and the decision to fire Jackson, right now, is actually a bit of a head-scratcher considering they were actually looking decent this season. But that might have to do more with the talent they have, headlined by two top picks in Myles Garrett and Bakey Mayfield, and less to do with the coach at the helm.
