The Brooklyn Nets are firmly placed within a long rebuild. Unfortunately for them, they have very few draft picks to build their future around.
The few young players that they do have will be featured prominently, however. That includes second round pick Isaiah Whitehead:
Nets GM on Isaiah Whitehead “We expect a lot out of him. He may be thrown into the fire earlier than you’d expect for a young guy like that"

Whitehead, a guard out of Seton Hall, was the 42nd pick in the draft.
On a team without a lot of talent, it makes sense for Whitehead to earn some playing time. The Nets have several veteran guards ahead of him in Jeremy Lin and Greivis Vasquez. They also have their first round selection in Caris LeVert after he comes back from his injury.
Nevertheless, if the Nets want to turn around their fortunes in the near future, they’ll need some young players to step up. In order to do so, they will need to develop those players and that starts with giving them plenty of experience.
Isaiah Whitehead may not be the most high-ceiling prospect in this draft class but he is a prospect nonetheless. The Nets do not have enough of those. They would be wise to develop the ones they do have.
