Actor Brian Tyree Henry will play Marvel’s first openly gay superhero in the upcoming film, The Eternals. Alongside Henry, actor Haaz Sleiman has been cast as his love interest.
Recently, Sleiman opened up about the role during an interview with New Now Next. He noted that the couple will be married, have a child and kiss on screen.
“Brian Tyree Henry is such a tremendous actor and brought so much beauty in this part, and at one point I saw a child in his eyes, and I think it’s important for the world to be reminded that we in the queer community were all children at one point,” Sleiman said.
“We forget that because we’re always depicted as sexual or rebellious. We forget to connect on that human part,” he continued.
He also spoke specifically about the kiss, which will be a first for the MCU.
“It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss,” he noted.
“Everyone cried on set. For me, it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be,” he added.
The Eternals will debut this November.
