The New York Jets combination of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker proved to be a dynamic duo during the 2015. Marshall of course was traded to the Jets the offseason prior and was a bit skeptical that Decker was the perfect counterpart. Decker recalls the conversation between the two.
“[H]e told me, ‘I honestly thought you were a product of Peyton [Manning]. Like I didn’t believe you were good,’” Decker told Kimberly A. Martin of Newsday.
Marshall who was present for Decker’s interview did nothing but confirm that notion.
“I did,” Marshall said. “[I used to think] ‘Man, it’s not fair, they have Peyton.”
“He’s probably one of the better route runners in our league,” Marshall said. “And I don’t think people really understand it — I didn’t even really . . . And then, probably during the Indy game [in Week Two], I was like, ‘Wow, this dude is pretty good.’”
The two now face the struggle of getting into a rhythm with a new quarterback in 2016. Either Geno Smith or rookie 2nd rounder Christian Hackenberg is expected to start as Ryan Fitzpatrick remains a free agent.
