The end of the season is near and with that, the speculation of who gets in the All-NBA teams is arriving. Bradley Beal is one of those players that might get in and if he does, he’s going to be eligible for a supermax contract extension in this upcoming offseason. Beal thinks that his individual success can get him an All-NBA selection this season. Following comes from Fred Katz from The Athletic:
“I feel like behind James Harden, I’m the best shooting guard in the league. My numbers may show it, but we’re not winning. I think that hurts in a lot of ways. But in terms of individual success, I feel like I’m right there.”
According to Katz, the extension could get him an estimated of $194 million for four seasons starting in 2021-2022 when his current contract expires. But apparently, Beal is still not sure that he would sign the supermax extension with the Washington Wizards.
“I have no idea. I try not to think about it. I’m not gonna be naïve about it. But, I haven’t even gotten that far, because I need to figure out what we’re gonna do this offseason, where we’re going, which direction we’re going.”
The Wizards signed John Wall to a similar contract in 2017 worth $207 million which starts in the 2019-2020 season. If they sign Beal to a supermax, they would have two big contracts in their books for at least two years.
This season, Beal is having a career year with career-best averages in almost every category. Currently, he’s recording 26 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 38 minutes per game. But despite the career year, Beal is shooting a career-worst 35.4 percent from three.
