Bradley Beal and Otto Porter have now spent two complete seasons together in Washington, and are going to be teammates for a long time. Combined with John Wall, the trio will be the face of DC for as long as they choose to stay together as members of the Washington Wizards.
Earlier in the season, Porter started over Beal at shooting guard due to injuries Beal suffered in games. This gave Porter his first experiences as a starter, and prepared him to be ready for the Wizards down the stretch of the season.
The two are the last two players taken by the Wizards in the first round of the draft, and they have formed a relationship that will grow as they grow. Beal has so much confidence in Porter that he believes Porter is one of the best players on the team. Even after playing for only two seasons, and only having a major role in one of those, Porter has the confidence of his teammates.
Following From Washington Post.
“I love it. I love Otto, man. I’m going to continue to say he’s one of our best players,” Beal said. “He does all the little things. He rebounds, he scores, defends well, and you got to give him credit. A lot of people, the media, and the fans say Otto’s not good, Otto’s not this elite player. But he’s the player we need him to be, he’s the player he’s going to be. Whether people like it or not and it works and it’s successful so he’s going to continue to get better. He just needs to continue to work hard, get stronger and be who he is. And we’re looking forward to his development.”
There are so many different aspects of Porter’s game that makes him the player he is, and will help him continue to become even better. The hard work he will put in over the Summer will prepare him for an even larger role next season when the Wizards look to make another playoff push.
