The Boston Celtics have been trying to get rid of the 3rd pick in this year’s draft. They have looked into acquiring Jimmy Butler, Khris Middleton, Gordon Hayward, Nerlens Noel, and Jahlil Okafor. They have been trying to make a deal, but it seems that they have had no luck so far.
ESPN sources say that the Celtics, so far, have been stifled in their attempts to turn the No. 3 pick into an established veteran via trade.

Utah, sources say, is telling interested teams Gordon Hayward is unavailable. Ditto for Milwaukee with Jabari Parker and Khris Middleton.

It looks like Boston is going to keep the pick. They recently named 3-4 guys that they are interested in drafting with the 3rd pick, but I’m sure they would have loved to have acquired a veteran player who would put them in position to win a championship right now instead of waiting for a guy to develop. Def Pen’s most recent Mock Draft has the Celtics drafting Buddy Hield.
