British Prime Minister Boris Johnson remained in St. Thomas Hospital in London for a second night after being diagnosed with COVID-19. According to Health Minister Edward Argar, Johnson is “comfortable, he’s stable, he’s in good spirits.” Johnson was admitted earlier this week as a “precautionary step” according to officials. In a message on Friday, Johnson said that he was recovering, but still suffering from a fever.

The United Kingdom has the eighth most confirmed cases in the world with nearly 56,000. Thus far, 6,171 have died and 325 have recovered. Over the past few weeks, COVID-19 has hit Europe extremely hard. Seven of the top ten countries with the most COVID-19 cases are in Europe. Leading the way, Spain and Italy have experienced over 30,000 deaths between the two countries.

In recent weeks, the U.K. has turned to a nationwide lock down in hopes of slowing the pandemic. There is no official word on when it will end.
