
In the second matchup of the season between DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins and Anthony “The Brow” Davis, the two early season MVP candidates went at each other once again. Sacramento Kings were lead by Boogie as they defeated the Pelicans 99-89 and the Pelicans may be feeling the loss of starting shooting guard, Eric Gordon, one day after his announced injury.
Boogie versus the Brow is now 1-1 on the season.
Cousins had another strong performance with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals leading the Kings. He rallied the team after coach Mike Malone got ejected in the first half. Omri Casspi also scored 22 for Sacramento with 4 rebounds, which has won three in a row. Casspi made his first start of the season in place of the injured Rudy Gay.
Ramon Sessions also got the start today for an injured player, he started for the injured Darren Collison and Sessions had 15 points with 6 assists on the night. Ben McLemore had 10 points on the night and Ray McCallum had 12 points off the bench.
New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis was held to 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks shot after he scored 28 in a victory over the Kings a week ago. Tyreke Evans led the Pelicans though with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Jrue Holiday also struggled only scoring 11 points. Ryan Anderson came off the bench for New Orleans and score 20 points.
Darius Miller started in place of the injured Gordon and produced goose eggs across the board. 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals and 0 blocks in 14 minutes of play.
Sacramento Kings are 9-5. New Orleans Pelicans are 7-6.
