Bonnaroo has announced that its Labor Day music festival will not move forward as previously scheduled. Festival organizers issued a series of tweets on Tuesday that explained that the festival grounds were “waterlogged” due to intense flooding. Portions of central Tennessee were hit with intense flooding earlier this month that led to the deaths of 21 people. More recently, parts of the state were hit with torrential downpour from Hurricane Ida.
“We are absolutely heartbroken to announce that we must cancel Bonnaroo. While this weekend’s weather looks outstanding, currently Centeroo is waterlogged in many areas, the ground is incredibly saturated on our tollbooth paths, and the campgrounds are flooded to the point that we are unable to drive in or park vehicles safely,” the festival stated.
“We have done everything in our power to try to keep the show moving forward, but Mother Nature has dealt us a tremendous amount of rain over the past 24 hours, and we have run out of options to try to make the event happen.”
The festival will not be rescheduled for a date later in the fall. Instead, Bonnaroo will return in 2022.
