Life comes at you fast.
Bobby Shmurda has been arrested along with member of the GS9 crew at Quad Studios on Wednesday morning (Dec. 17). The “Hot Nigga” rapper allegedly had 20 guns at the studio, 20 GUNS! Also, Epic Records executive Sha Money XL was arrested. Oddly enough, no one has asked to post bail.
If the truth remains, Young Shmurda is in a heap of legal trouble — this would be his second gun-related arrest, the first being a felony gun possession charge back in June.
Wondering Sound spoke with Kati Cornell, director of public information in the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor, and she confirmed the arrest along with some background information on the case.
“These arrests were the result of a long-term investigation. My office has a sealed indictment against a number of individuals.”
She also stated that the indictment would be unsealed December 18th, when the arraignment take place in Manhattan Supreme Court. And this case isn’t only about drugs.
“The investigation did involve a number of violent incidents as well as narcotics trafficking.”

According to an “inside source,” officials found “$52,000 worth of crack (262 grams of crack), a pound of marijuana, $40K in cash, 3 hand guns, and a 1 AR-15 rifle.”
Shmurda’s attorney Howard Greenburg is claiming that his client is innocent, as he should. “Does it make sense that he would resort to committing crimes when he has the world in the palm of his hand?”, he stated, “It’s ridiculous.”
UPDATE #4: Shmurda and the GS9 crew have been indicted in connection to 24 shootings, including the 2013 murder of a rival gang member, and operating a drug and gun ring, according to prosecutors.
Bobby himself was charged with conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia. His bail was $2 million, and was paid for by Epic Records.
Ackquille “Bobby Shmurda” Pollard is set to appear in court January 29, 2015.
UPDATE #5: Epic Records’ executive Sha Money XL has released an official statement.
“I was not arrested. They held me until they searched the studio then let me go. I signed these kids to give them a better way in life not to be dragged down by the media and gunned down by the 40 cops that raided the studio and pointed guns at me for working my job. You have no idea how this makes me feel or look when I’m one of the only few black men signing black artist from the streets and giving them a chance to do better in life.”
