Top Rank President Bob Arum believes that WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury may fight once more. During a recent interview with Fight Hype, Arum suggested that Fury may walk back his talks of retirement and fight Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
“I think Fury is gonna wait to see how the Joshua fight comes out with Usyk, and then he’ll make a determination on whether he wants to continue,” Arum told Fight Hype.
“Because other than fighting the winner of Joshua-Usyk, there’s really nothing there that’s really of interest to Tyson Fury, so we’ll have to see.”
Arum is not the only person to suggest that Fury may postpone his retirement and fight for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
“I feel retirement doesn’t mean you have completely given up and you are on the beach clicking your toes and drinking a bottle of Corona. I feel he is still ticking over and I think he will come back if the right fight is presented to him,” Anthony Joshua told Oxford Union last week.
Before Fury can fight for the undisputed heavyweight crown, Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk must sort out their differences in Dubai this summer. From there, the unified champion can fight Fury or an undetermined challenge for the vacant title. Either way, it appears that the heavyweight division will have an undisputed champion in the near future.
