This setback is the latest of several key injuries to Blazers rotational players. Portland is already scraping together as it is, with Zach Collins and Jusef Nurkic the biggest names lost for most if not all of the season. Now Hood can be added to that list.
The news is obviously devastating for Rodney Hood, who was enjoying a career shooting season. The 27-year-old had been shooting 49.3% from 3-point land and 50.6% from the field overall. Hood had also been averaging the highest number of minutes per game since 2015-16 as a member of the Utah Jazz.
It has been a “next man up” sort of season so far for the Blazers, and that will be no different with this latest injury. Hood re-signed with the Blazers this past offseason after being traded to Portland the season prior.
