Billy Porter has made his name as a multi-faceted star in front of the camera. His next role will push him to become a multi-faceted star off-screen. Recently, Porter signed a deal to join Greg Berlanti as a writer and producer for the upcoming Peacock series, Fruit Of Thy Labor.
“It crosses all genres,” Porter said about the new series.
“While the matriarch and patriarch are sort of based on like Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, and then they have children, and then they have grandchildren. That kind of family and then there’s a character that’s based on me, of course, though I’m not playing the character.”
Porter and Berlanti have a working relationship that dates back more than two decades. The two worked together on the 2000 film, The Broken Hearts Club. Together, the duo hopes to create the same magic on their latest project.
