Brock Osweiler stinks, we all know that. The $72 million he heisted from the Texans last offseason couldn’t have worked out worse for Houston. The bad news is that contract is guaranteed for next season. Head coach Bill O’Brien didn’t seem to have a clear picture of how the Texans quarterback situation would look next season.
“We’re so far from answering that question,” O’Brien told reporters. “Right now, we sit down and evaluate our team and everything we do …it’s not even a question that I can begin to answer.”
“We’re going to evaluate everything. We’re going to do the best we can to field a good, competitive team, a better team, a more consistent team than we did this year.”
The current options on the roster are Osweiler, Tom Savage, and Brandon Weeden. It’s clear neither of those guys is the answer. They could pursue a trade for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo this offseason. The other option could be to draft a quarterback. We are far ways away from the Draft but a few names to watch are Deshaun Watson, Mitch Trubisky, and DeShone Kizer. It remains to be seen who might be available when the Texans are on the clock. They decided to pass up on O’Brien’s former collegiate quarterback Christian Hackenberg last year.
