President Joe Biden may be interested in running for re-election, but he is in no rush to formally launch his next presidential campaign. With Russia invading Ukraine, rising security concerns and a student problem looming, the President says he has “other things to finish” before entering the race.
Despite his most recent comments, all signs point toward the President launching another presidential campaign in the near future. During a recent interview with David Muir of ABC News, the President said that his intention is to run for re-election.
“[M]y intention is — from– has — intention has been from the beginning to run. But there are too many other things we have to finish in the near term before I start a campaign,” Biden told Muir.
In a separate interview, Biden’s wife, Dr. Jill Biden, reiterated much of what the President told Muir.
“He says he’s not done,” Dr. Jill Biden said.
“He’s not finished what he’s started. And that’s what’s important.”
President Joe Biden is expected to be favored to earn the DNC’s endorsement for President in 2024. Currently, author Marianne Williamson is the only other notable candidate to enter the Democratic race.
