It’s fair to say that it’s Beyonce’s world and we’re just living in it. Setting the world ablaze with the surprise release of her latest record, ‘Formation,’ back in February, Queen Bey drew in attention from many people of various aspects of life. Among those included were naysayers and critics who lashed out and claimed that Beyonce was against the police and what they stand for. One to usually remain quiet among any and every type of criticism that comes her way, in an interview with Elle Magazine, which the covers were recently revealed, the superstar sets the record straight on ‘Formation,’ once and for all.
“I mean, I’m an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood. But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of the officers who sacrifice themselves to keeps us safe. But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things. If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me. I’m proud of what we created and I’m proud to be part of a conversation that is pushing things forward in a positive way.”
Well, it doesn’t get much straightforward than that as it’s evident that Beyonce knew exactly what she was aiming for with ‘Formation.’ As April rolls on and her new “Formation World Tour” is slated to start this month, the only thing that’s left is the music. Until then, stay tuned as the rest of the singer’s Elle interview will be released soon and check out the creative’s new ‘Ivy Park’ clothing line, here.
