For those lucky enough to be in the number, the 2018 Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100, took place in Johannesburg, South Africa just yesterday. Bringing together various artists, activists, philanthropists and so many others, the spirit of the giving was profound with the ultimate goal of making the world a better place.
Bringing music into the mix, Beyonce and JAY-Z took on headliner duties with ease as the powerhouse couple brought aspects of their “On The Run II” tour to Africa. Adding some new costumes and additional surprises to the mix, Pharrell joined the couple for their Everything Is Love record, “Nice,” while Beyonce later sang her “Perfect” duet rendition with Ed Sheeran.
An amazing headlining showing, as usual, from two of music’s best entertainers, the 2018 Global Citizen Festival raised a little over $7 billion dollars worth commitments and announcements. Setting the bar high for next year’s event, the celebration of what would have been 100 years of life for Nelson Mandela was a home run.
