Top Rank is reportedly looking to develop a card during the weekend of this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York, New York. Tonight, the promotional giant may decide who will headline that major event in the nation’s largest city.

In one corner, there is Edgar Berlanga, a rising super middleweight out of the Big Apple. With co-signs from Fat Joe and other New York elite, he’s quickly become one of the most talked about young stars in the sport. Not to mention, he kicked off his career by earning 16 consecutive first-round knockouts. His last two fights have provided more of a challenge, but he’s maintained his spotless resume.

In the other corner, we have Xander Zayas, a super welterweight prospect out of California by way of Puerto Rico. Much like Berlanga, he’s put together a perfect record as well. With six wins in 2021, he’s earned a co-sign from the biggest star in the sport at the moment, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Tonight, Berlanga and Zayas will be heavily favored in each fight, but one is clearly different from the other. Zayas will face off against Quincy Lavallais, a Louisiana native with 12 wins and two losses. Following Zayas, Berlanga will enter the ring in his hometown after suffering an injury in his final fight of 2021. He will compete against Steve Rolls, a Toronto native whose only defeate came at the hands of Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin. Berlanga is heavily favored, but he’s still coming off an injury that could potentially impact his power.
