Every year on New Year’s Day, millions of Twitter and Instagram users take to their social media platforms to post some iteration of the phrase, “New Year, New Me!” While most diverge from this motto by March, Belly has stuck to it. Just months after releasing his latest project, Mumble Rap, the Canadian posted a picture of himself and Jay-Z in the studio. While it was unclear whether the Roc Nation, XO signee was merely meeting with the Roc Nation founder or whether they were working on new music. Today, we may have gotten a preview of a possible Belly and Jay-Z collaboration.

Last night, the Mumble Rap emcee took to Instagram to post a short video of about ten seconds which previews a new song. Belly can be heard rapping, “Ready for the midnight zone, midnight, midnight zone,” while Jay-Z is sitting in the studio bobbing his head. This snippet may be a lot of nothing, but it could be a sign of Jay-Z giving us his first verse since the ill-received “Top Off” single from DJ Khaled.
There is no release date for the “Midnight Zone” project or record, but considering Belly’s prolific work ethic, it could be coming in the near future. Meanwhile, Jay-Z is gearing up for the On The Run II tour with his wife, Beyonce. The couple will begin their tour on June 6th in the United Kingdom before stopping in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Miami and ending in Seattle on October 4th. Tickets are on sale now.
