Before joining the Washington Wizards at the end of the 2015 NBA season, Will Bynum was spending his days playing in China for the Guangdong Southern Tigers. Throughout the season, he remained a target of Washington, and eventually signed a deal that made him a Wizard for the rest of the season and playoffs.
In his trip to China, Bynum acknowledged the gameplay was much more physical, and a lot tougher than what goes on in the NBA. With some saying the league has become soft, these comments aren’t much of a surprise. In other countries, their leagues may just be staying with what many consider to be “old-school” basketball.

“It’s way more physical than over here,” said Bynum, who played two seasons in Israel earlier in his career. “Officiating is like 30 years behind. It’s like the 1980s.”
Bynum has been a journeyman throughout his career, and that could continue if he does not return to Washington next season. He may have to get ready to take part in a more physical game style again if a return overseas becomes imminent.
