Azriel Clary, 21, and Joycelyn Savage, 23, who currently live with R. Kelly, appeared in an interview with Gayle King on CBS This Morning, Thursday.
A day after Kelly’s explosive interview, the two women defended the R&B singer. CBS News reports the two women told King, “they love Kelly even though their families claim he has brainwashed them.” The pair claim there’s “nothing inappropriate” about their relationship with the 52-year-old and deny wanting to pursue a singing career.
Clary and Savage confirmed in the interview that they are both in a relationship with Kelly. When King asked if the relationship between the trio was sexual, Clary fired at King stating,
“Sexually, well, first of all, I’m not here to talk about my personal life, and I would never share with no one what I do in or outside of the bedroom. And as a woman, I’m sure you would not either.”
Clary, who did most of the talking, claimed that her parents knew about her whereabouts for four years and that her parents have visited her in Chicago.
“Well, my parents have actually came to Chicago and seen me a few times. They’ve – I’ve talked to them. They stopped answering my calls,” Clary said.
She denied having sex with Kelly at age 17 and that her parents told her to lie about her age when she first met the singer. She then told King that her parents forced her to take photos and explicit videos with Kelly.
“Okay, so when I first met Robert, my parents told me to lie about my age. So when I met him, he thought that I was 18. On top of that, when I was 17, my parents were actually making me, trying to get me to take photos with him, take sexual videos with him, all kinds of stuff.”
Savage chimed in claiming that both sets of parents are trying to get money from Kelly.
“Everything that she’s saying is true. Both our parents are basically out here trying to get money and scam, because they didn’t agree on what happened, you know, with music or whatever it could be. And they’re just very upset.”
At some point in the interview, Clary broke down crying and lashed out. She said,
“I’m crying, because you guys don’t know the truth! You guys believe in some f***ing facade that our parents are saying. This is all f***ing lies for money, and if you can’t see that, you’re ignorant and you’re stupid as f***, because you want to be.”
CBS News reports that both parents deny asking or receiving money from R. Kelly. Kelly was also present in the room of the interview, “despite his team agreeing he would not be present.”
R. Kelly is currently in custody at Cook County Jail for owing over $160,000 in unpaid child support.
