Seventeen years after her debut album went diamond in her home country of Canada, Avril Lavigne is back with her sixth studio album, Head Above Water. Lavigne’s latest body of work comes with twelve tracks including her Nicki Minaj collaboration, “Dumb Blonde”.
The project also comes along with its lead single, “Head Above Water”. When speaking about the track, Lavigne said, “I wanted to make this record about the vocals so you could really hear the lyrics and feel the emotion because sometimes the music can be overbearing.” She also added, “I really just wanted to sing and make it about that, so it was nice to explore with different sounds like ‘Crush’ and ‘Tell Me It’s Over’.”
Other standout tracks include the Memphis soul influenced track, “Birdie”, and “Tell Me It’s Over”. Listen to the full album above and let us know what you think. Also, keep up with Def Pen to see if Avril Lavigne has any upcoming videos or tour announcements up her sleeve.
