Filmmaker Ava DuVernay is working on a Prince documentary set to release on Netflix, Variety reports. The documentary will span the late artist’s entire life.
The project has been approved by Prince’s estate, providing interviews, archival footage, photos, and archive access.
DuVernay expressed her gratitude on Twitter, saying “Prince was a genius and a joy and a jolt to the senses. The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care. I’m honored to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate.”
This will be DuVernay’s second documentary on the streaming service, after 13th. The documentary on racial inequality was Oscar-nominated for Best Documentary in 2017.
There is no release date for the Prince documentary at this time.
