It’s been an extremely eventful week in the world of rap. For an entire week, Nicki Minaj’s Queen has garnered the majority of attention and Trippie Redd’s has made some noise as well. However, Travis Scott has remained at the top of playlists and radio mixes for much of the week. Thanks to tracks like “Sicko Mode”, “NC-17”, “Stargazing” and “Coffee Bean”, Scott’s third album has earned critical acclaim from DJs, writers and more. As a result, it appears that the Houston native will top the charts for a second straight week.
Last week, Scott’s third solo studio album moved an astounding 537,000 units in its first week. After a strong first week, the album is projected to move a strong 155,00 to 165,000 units in its second week. If these projections hold true, the album will outsell Nicki Minaj’s Queen and Trippie Redd’s Life’s A Trip. Nicki Minaj’s newest project is projected to sell between 135,000 and 150,000 in its first week. Considering Minaj’s last project sold a strong 244,000 units in its first week, this would be a major drop off for the first lady of Young Money. Meanwhile, Trippie Redd is set to move anywhere between 65,000 and 71,000 units in his first week.
With no major projects set to drop next week, Travis Scott could possibly top the Hip-Hop/R&B charts for a third week if his momentum continues. Final numbers for this week will come in later on and we’ll be sure to keep yo up to date.
